The Amethyst Imperial Grand is my personal best public soundfont. It is sampled from the well-known Yamaha C7 Grand Piano. This soundfont is specifically optimized and equalized to be used for Black MIDI playback, but can also work well on other cases (such as live piano playback or piano transcriptions). An update to the Grand Piano included in the Mattias Westlund's Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra. The velocity layers are phase aligned, allowing smoother dynamic transitions via velocity crossfading, which in turn makes the piano more expressive.
