Diato: a diatonic accordion

by Soni Musicae

Uploaded on Aug 24, 2015 (and last updated on Aug 24, 2015)

Here is a sound bank of a small diatonic accordion, with 21 keys on two rows at the right hand, and 8 basses at the left, and a second stop that sounds lower. A diatonic accordion does not produce the same notes when you push or pull the bellows, and this makes this instrument not so easy to play... More, it has not all the semi-tones of its 3 octaves (from D2 to E5). With this sound bank, you can forget those drawbacks, because we have "interpolated" the missing notes, an...

The Grandfather's Clock

by Soni Musicae

Uploaded on Aug 24, 2015 (and last updated on Aug 25, 2015)

This little soundbank gives you the grandfather's clock you ever dreamt of, and its true original tick-tack you need for suspense purpose. This clock has a special deep and heavy sound. The sounds are organized on the keyboard as follows : B2 : looped tick-tack as long as you press the key. C3 to B3 : All the strokes from 1 to 12, 1 hour on C and 12 on B, with the noise of mechanism. C4 to B4 : almost the same thing, but without the noise of mechanism. VST Version:...

The Ghent Carillon

by Soni Musicae

Uploaded on Aug 24, 2015 (and last updated on Dec 30, 2015)

This sf2 soundbank, called the Ghent Carillon, is made with free samples found on the following site: http://bimbam.be/EN/klokken.html They are mono but good sounding, and respect the resonance of the 54 bells, from B flat to F, on 4 octaves. The samples have been converted from mp3 to wave, and regularly disposed in space from left to right, using the pan adjustment in the soundfont with Vienna Soundfont. In this belfry, there are no bells for the B and the C sharp of t...

Extra considerations: The soundfont was created by Soni Musicae but the samples are free and come from Ghent (Belgium) city's clock and were made available by a non-profit organization. The original site is now dead (but is linked here and can be accessed via Internet Archive) so most of the uses here should be okay.

Battletoads: Battlemaniacs Soundfont

Two-pack! The two SNES Battletoad soundtracks were written by the inimitable David Wise of Donkey Kong Country fame, and I even recognize a few instruments from DKC in these. But the draw here's certainly all of the sweet rock instruments -- lots of power chords and drums that cut through. Rockin'! College Slam Basketball Soundfont

I think it's the smallest soundfont I've ripped: only twelve instruments and almost half are percussion. The loop points might sound a bit wonky but that's actually how they sound in-game, if you can look past that though it really is a solid little sound bank. The percussion sounds great and it has a nice booming timpani. If you like the work of the author visit the site and listen to the music in Soundcloud, Bandcamp or Youtube!
